What are Account Codes and How do they Work
Customers choose numbers to "plug into" the phone call that identifies a caller and or department as the one making the call.
Example - Employee A and Employee B. Each has a 3 digit account code for all of the company's four lines. Employee A is assigned code #100 and Employee B is assigned code #200. note that the carrier does not assign these codes, nor have anything to do with who has which code, etc. Carriers simply fulfill the company's request for these codes.
Company's monthly bill will show all the calls made using each code. Employee A made 25 calls last month with the code #100, totally $42.00. Employee B made 53 calls last month using account code #200, total $97.28. Employee A works in the Human Relations department, while Employee B works in the Marketing department.
Notice too that it is easy to track costs to a particular department or client, making overhead billing a simple task for law offices or advertising firms, for example.
Most of our carriers provide account codes free of charge to customers. Just submit a request to customer service once your service is set up.
